Episode 5: AI - Application Integration Superpower, or ?
Take advantage of AI to boost your productivity.
AI has made it possible to bridge the digital divide for the first time. When I was young, I learned C, C++, Java, and C#. But now, you don't have to worry. Anyone can be a programmer. You can program computers using plain language. If you need a script, just ask chatGPT.
Computing is no longer just for consumption; anyone can build a career and pursue their passion with AI.
Think about it. It all started with Personal Computing or the PC. From there, we had Nintendo, Commodore, Spectrum, Atari, and Apple in almost every home (that’s five since 5 keeps the doctor away).
Then came the age of the Internet, which replaced BBS and made vast amounts of information available to almost anyone.
After that, came Cloud computing, which made supercomputing available to all.
The iPhone ushered in personal cloud computing, and now everyone has more computing power in their pocket than they will ever need. Smartphones, by the way, have democratized photography and filmmaking as well.
The next phase of computing is centered around AI, and we are currently in a growth phase. AI has the potential to revolutionize the way we live and work, and we are only beginning to scratch the surface of what is possible.
As we have seen in recent years, AI is already beginning to transform industries such as healthcare, finance, and transportation. In healthcare, AI is being used for everything from diagnosing diseases to developing new treatments. In finance, AI is being used to detect fraud and make investment decisions. And in transportation, AI is being used to improve safety and reduce congestion on our roads.
But the potential uses of AI go far beyond these examples. With the ability to analyze vast amounts of data and make predictions based on that data, AI has the potential to revolutionize everything from education to agriculture to energy.
AI and the field of application Integration
One area where AI is already showing tremendous promise is in the field of application integration. As we have seen, AI can be used to automate routine tasks and increase efficiency, as well as provide valuable insights and predictions. With the ability to extract data using natural language queries and suggest which fields to map between different systems, AI has the potential to revolutionize the way we connect applications, validate, route, and transform messages intelligently.
As we continue to develop and refine AI technology, the possibilities for innovation are endless. With the ability to learn and adapt over time, AI has the potential to become more and more intelligent, leading to new breakthroughs and advancements in a wide range of fields.
Of course, it's important to understand the limitations of AI as well. While AI can be incredibly powerful and useful, it is not a silver bullet solution to every problem. It's important to approach AI with a clear understanding of its capabilities and limitations, and to use it in conjunction with other tools and strategies to achieve the best results.
Overall, we are currently in a growth phase of AI, and there is tremendous potential for innovation and progress in the years ahead. As we continue to explore the possibilities of AI and push the boundaries of what is possible, we can look forward to a future that is more efficient, more productive, and more intelligent than ever before.
AI Meets the Physical World: A Trillion Dollar Boost
Artificial intelligence has been a buzzword for several years now, and it has already made significant impacts in the digital world. However, when AI meets the physical world, it has the potential to become a trillion-dollar industry. In this blog post, we'll discuss how AI is currently digital-based on software and how it can revolutionize industries when it moves into the physical world.
AI Today: Digital-Based Software
Today, AI is primarily used in the digital world, specifically in software applications. It has been used to automate routine tasks, analyze data, and make predictions based on that data. AI has already transformed various industries such as healthcare, finance, and transportation. It has been used for everything from diagnosing diseases to detecting fraud and improving safety on our roads.
AI has been limited to software applications because it requires data inputs and outputs to perform its tasks. As such, it has been primarily used in digital platforms such as websites, mobile apps, and cloud computing. However, with the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT), AI is slowly moving into the physical world.
The Future of AI: Moving into the Physical World
As IoT devices become more prevalent, AI will have a significant impact on the physical world. The combination of AI and IoT can potentially revolutionize several industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and agriculture.
In manufacturing, AI can be used to optimize the production process by predicting when machines will need maintenance, reducing downtime, and improving efficiency. In logistics, AI can optimize the supply chain by predicting demand, improving inventory management, and reducing transportation costs. In agriculture, AI can be used to optimize crop yields by predicting weather patterns, soil fertility, and pest outbreaks.
AI can also be used in smart homes and cities to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance safety. For example, AI-powered traffic management systems can reduce congestion and improve safety on our roads. AI can also be used to manage energy consumption in buildings by predicting usage patterns and adjusting heating and cooling systems accordingly.
AI is being applied to these examples
Wind turbines
Factories.
Warehouses.
Traffic shaping.
Architecture.
Any one working with sustainability can take a plan for any of my examples and simply ask:
“Look at these plans, how can we make them more sustainable?” Easy for ai with the correct model in place. He who owns the model will replace todays Google and Apple by a mud slide.
The potential uses of AI are vast and varied, from automating routine tasks to revolutionizing entire industries. It's important to understand the limitations of AI, but it's equally important to embrace its potential and explore new possibilities. As we continue to develop and refine AI technology, the possibilities for innovation are endless.
I feel inspired by ai.
The question is do you and what will you do with ai ?
Working with application integration and looking at ai- what will it bring for our field ?
Ai has the potential to revolutionize application integration by automating routine tasks and increasing efficiency. It can also provide valuable insights and predictions, allowing for better decision making and problem solving. As the field continues to evolve, it's important to stay current with the latest developments in AI and explore how they can be applied to our work. Embracing AI can lead to new opportunities and advancements in application integration and beyond.
I have seen integration platforms tap into chatGPT to enrich data that is flowing. This is weak. This is missing the point.
Having an integration use chatGPT to enrich data is using ai to boost the value of the payload. What I curios about is how ai can be applied to solve integration challenges.
How can we apply ai to the art of moving data in a timely fashion ?
I have seen ai boost operations and operational insights. I have seen ai be used to manipulate the size of compute in use for a Kubernetes cluster. I have even seen ai predict the consequence of some moving dependency working working slower than expected. These are applications that help run platforms- however they don’t improve the actual art of moving the data?
Testing is one are ai really is helping. Take a defined API and generate test data. This is done.
Use AI to suggest which fields from the CRM system should be mapped where in the ERP system and vice versa - this is also possible.
I am still not seeing the silver bullet here.
Using ai to extract data is also possible. One can query a Kafka cluster using natural language or one can ask something like chatGPT to create the Kafka query.
However I am still not seeing ai being used coherently as a way to to connect applications, validate, route and transform messages intelligently. There is an opportunity here for a different approach to application integration - trust me.
With AI becoming more prevalent in the field of application integration, there is an opportunity for a new approach to connecting applications, validating, routing, and transforming messages intelligently. While AI has been used for tasks such as testing and suggesting which fields to map, there is still room for improvement in utilizing AI to improve the actual process of moving data in a timely fashion. As the field continues to evolve, it's important to explore new possibilities and stay current with the latest developments in AI to unlock its full potential in application integration and beyond.
This is the next arms race. AI has already made significant impacts in the digital world, but its potential is even greater when it moves into the physical world. As IoT devices become more prevalent, AI will have a significant role in several industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and agriculture. The combination of AI and IoT can potentially revolutionize these industries, leading to significant improvements in efficiency, safety, and cost savings. The future of AI looks bright, and we can expect to see a trillion-dollar boost when it meets the physical world.
And how do we connect software with the digital world, we integrate - this is how AI will affect our field the most.
